Directories That Cover Graham
There is no Graham city staff book or citywide resident list. Graham is an unincorporated census-designated place, so the best people directories are kept by Pierce County, Washington agencies, Bethel School District, Pierce College, and regional libraries and archives. Each answers a narrow question. A county staff directory finds a public work contact, while an assessor roll identifies a parcel owner or taxpayer. Historic books and archival indexes reach people who are absent from current web listings.
| Directory | Who it lists | Keeper | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pierce County directory | Departments, elected officials, staff, and service units | Pierce County | Free search and browse |
| Bethel school contacts | Published school administrators and office staff | Bethel School District 403 | Public static rosters |
| Pierce College directory | Faculty and staff across district locations | Pierce College | Free searchable table |
| ATIP assessment roll | Parcel owners and taxpayers | Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer | Free parcel or address search |
| License and business lookups | Professionals, contractors, firms, agents, and governors | Washington agencies | Free official portals |
| Historic and obituary indexes | Past occupants, families, and deceased residents | Northwest Room and State Archives | Online, library, and appointment access |
Start with the listing tied to the person's role. For an agency contact, use the county directory. School pages work best when the campus is known. An address belongs in ATIP or a reverse directory. Family-history questions often need Northwest ORCA, the Northwest Room, Digital Archives, or the Puget Sound Regional Branch.
Graham Government Work Directories
The Pierce County directory replaces the nonexistent Graham city directory for most public services. Its text box searches people, departments, services, and categories. Readers may also browse the department hierarchy. Entries can show a person or unit name, public email, telephone, office address, and a nested service division. It is a work-contact tool, not a household directory.
The statewide route is less direct. WA.gov employee contacts sends readers to agency listings because Dial.wa.gov was retired. WaTech says the old system was decommissioned after cyber threats to its infrastructure. WSDOT still has a name directory with phone, city, and organization code, but broad searches show only the top 50 results. Narrow names produce better matches.
| Entry field | What a county listing may show |
|---|---|
| Name or unit | A published staff member, office, department, or service |
| Role | Staff title or place in the department hierarchy |
| Contact | Public email link and work telephone when published |
| Location | Office address rather than a private residence |
If no person appears, call the department's main number or search by the service name. For an identifiable existing roster or record, Pierce County's records portal is the formal fallback under the Washington Public Records Act. General access rules belong in the Graham public records overview.

The directory screen helps distinguish a named staff result from a department or service listing.
Graham School Contact Directories
Bethel School District 403 serves much of Graham, but it does not expose a public districtwide staff-name search. The official Bethel directory entry leads employees to an authenticated intranet. Public school pages instead carry current static rosters. Graham Elementary publishes administration and office staff, while Graham-Kapowsin High School publishes administration, support contacts, and office phone numbers.
That limit matters. A public roster is useful for reaching a school office, but it is not an alumni directory or student list. No authoritative public Graham alumni directory was verified, and current student information is protected. When a staff name is absent, use the school's main office or Bethel's central office rather than seeking a private roster.
Review the Bethel staff-directory route to see the public access boundary:
The landing page confirms why school-by-school contact pages are the practical public option.
Pierce College Directory Near Graham
The Pierce College staff directory is the strongest nearby education directory. It lists current faculty and staff across Puyallup, Fort Steilacoom, and JBLM-linked departments. It is free, needs no login, and uses one optional text field that checks all visible columns. Names link to profiles, while column headers can sort the results.
| Control or field | Type | Required | How it works |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search | Text | No | Substring-matches all visible columns |
| Show entries | Dropdown | No | Changes the number of rows shown |
| Name, Title, Department, Phone, Email | Sortable columns | No | Click a heading to change order |
| Pagination | Navigation | No | Moves through the result set |
A typical entry supplies a name, title, department, public email, and work phone. There is no campus filter, so confirm the person's location through the department or linked profile. This directory supports institutional contact and does not act as an alumni archive.

The sortable table makes a narrow name or department search more useful than a broad regional query.
Graham Property Owner Directories
The Assessor-Treasurer Information Portal, or ATIP, works as an owner and taxpayer directory. Search by parcel number or site address, then inspect the owner or taxpayer name, mailing address, parcel number, legal description, assessment, tax, sale, and building facts. The taxpayer mailing address may differ from the situs address, which is the parcel's physical location.
PublicGIS adds parcel boundaries, zoning, community plans, utilities, hazards, and service districts. It can start with an address, intersection, parcel, or place of interest, but it is not an owner-name directory. After ATIP identifies a name and parcel, the Auditor's grantor-grantee index can show parties to recorded instruments. Grantor usually means the party conveying an interest; grantee means the party receiving it.
Insider tip. Use ATIP to resolve the parcel and legal description first. The Auditor index does not accept a street address, and its parcel links are not a full title search.
Owners and occupants are not the same. A remote owner may receive tax mail elsewhere, and a renter may never appear on the assessment roll. Reverse directories, permits, and archival newspapers can supply different evidence, but each result should be read within its own date and purpose.
Graham License and Business Directories
Washington agencies hold the professional and business directories used in Graham. The Corporations and Charities Filing System searches a business name or UBI. Its advanced form adds entity type, status, date ranges, and registered-agent or governor names. Results can show the legal name, UBI, standing, formation dates, principal office, agent, governors, and filing history.
For trades, L&I Verify accepts an account or contractor number, UBI, business name, or owner name. Results may include principals, trade name, license specialty and dates, bond and insurance status, and several six-year history categories. The DOL license lookup covers regulated professions, the Department of Health covers provider credentials, and the Washington State Bar route finds lawyers by name, place, and status.
Graham has no city business-license counter. State systems and the relevant Pierce County department are the valid channels. A license entry confirms a published professional or business fact at a point in time; it does not prove where a person lives.
Historical Graham People Directories
The Tacoma Public Library Northwest Room holds Tacoma city directories beginning in 1885 and physical Tacoma Suburban directories that may cover outer communities. Entries are in surname order from 1885 through 1927. Starting in 1928, address and reverse arrangements join the surname listings and continue through 2021. Tacoma telephone books begin in 1919. Graham coverage must be checked volume by volume because a Tacoma or Pierce title may omit rural households.
| Years or era | Collection format | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| 1885-1927 | Surname-order city directories | Find a named resident, trade, or listed address |
| 1919 forward | Tacoma telephone directories | Check published phone and address entries |
| 1928-2021 | Surname plus address/reverse arrangement | Move from a street address to a listed occupant |
| Selected 1919-1983 years | State Archives Polk holdings | Fill gaps after confirming rural coverage |
State Archives lists Pierce Polk volumes for 1919, 1922-1928, 1930, 1933, 1935-1942, 1949, 1951, 1955-1963, 1965-1966, 1968-1970, 1972, 1974, 1976, and 1983. Call ahead to confirm the exact series and Graham inclusion. The nearby Graham Pierce County Library provides computers, database access, and staff help, while rare originals remain at the Northwest Room or archives.
Reverse Graham Directories After 1928
A reverse directory changes the starting point. Instead of looking for a surname, search a street and house number to see the occupant or subscriber printed for that year. This is especially useful when a deed names an owner but the research question concerns who lived at the Graham address.
Myth: Every old Graham address is searchable online. Many suburban volumes remain physical or database-only, and local coverage varies by publisher, exchange, and year.
Preserve the directional “E” in east Pierce addresses. Older rural routes, school districts, precincts, and nearby place names such as Kapowsin or Spanaway may index the same family differently. Pair the directory year with deeds, assessment rolls, census schedules, or newspapers before treating an occupant listing as proof of ownership.
Graham Archival Name Directories
Northwest ORCA searches collection descriptions and digital objects by text, creator, subject, place, repository, media, and date. It includes obituary, local biography, and buildings indexes. Quote “Graham, Washington” and use the Place facet because a broad Graham search can return surname matches. A specific closed-stack “Washington Cities A-Z: Graham” clipping file exists, though its online record does not state dates or contents.
The Washington State Digital Archives adds Pierce marriage, naturalization, school, census, probate, and recording indexes. Its Pierce marriage collection held 493,344 records when researched, covering 1876-1947 and 1984-present. The 1948-1983 online gap does not mean the underlying marriages vanished. Soundex can find surnames that clerks spelled in similar-sounding ways.

How Graham Directory Records Evolved
Graham's directory history follows Pierce County rather than a municipal series. County boundaries, school districts, precincts, and rural routes matter because today's census-designated place did not exist as the same label throughout the record run.
- 1852
- Pierce County was formed from Thurston County.
- 1880
- The county seat moved from Steilacoom to Tacoma.
- 1885
- The Northwest Room's Tacoma city-directory run begins.
- 1928
- Address and reverse directory arrangements begin.
- 2002
- The State Archives Historical Records Project began expanding searchable transcriptions.
Territorial censuses from 1857 through 1892 and school registers from 1888 through 1932 can place rural families missed by city books. The Puget Sound Regional Branch in Bellevue offers in-person research Wednesday through Friday by appointment and phone or email service Monday and Tuesday. Viewing is free; copies and staff research may cost.
